Thousands of Spanish medical workers protest austerity and plans to privatize the national health service. They marched one more time last Sunday, 16th through Madrid. Protesters marched from Atocha to Puerta del Sol dressed in white hospital scrubs, being that the reason why organizers have called the march, «a white tide». Despite the many mass demonstrations against budget cuts, Madrid’s government, under regional president Ignacio Gonzalez, maintains cuts are needed to secure health services during a deep recession.

Protestors demonstrate during a 24-hour strike in Madrid against the governments´ austerity measures. Spain’s trade unions have called the second general strike during Mariano Rajoy’s presidency. This strike is coordinated with further strikes planned across Europe: Italy, Greece, Portugal, France and Belgium.

el Psicólogo
De corazón y científicamente hablando, usted está loco sin remedio y sin esperanza. Levántese usted de mi diván, salga de mi consulta y, por favor, no se le ocurra aparecer por aquí. ¿Cómo se le ocurre, en una fría noche de finales de otoño, saltar desde el puente más alto de la ciudad con un ladrillo atado al pie, con el pelo alborotado y estrellitas en la mirada extraviada, medio desnudo, solo con una camiseta de un Jimi Hendrix muy estirajado, con la única intención de quitarse usted la vida? ¿Cómo dice? ¿Qué quién fue el mal nacido que le salvó de una muerte segura? Pues un pobre servidor, psicólogo por vocación y no de carrera, que entiende bien a la gente y le gusta ayudar, pero al que nadie escucha ya. Por eso me compré un diván verde-terciopelo, por eso llamé a este cuarto de baño mi consulta y grabé mi nombre en la puerta tras “PSICÓLOGO” con P gigante, porque no se pronuncia y sin embargo, existe como las cosas que a mi me gustan. Ya sé, ya sé. Le está dando una crisis de ansiedad de esas tan de moda entre mis pacientes más jóvenes. No se ría usted, o no haga usted muecas si es que se le ha olvidado sonreír. Usted es el primero y está tan loco que jamás podré ayudarle. Me dan igual sus crisis, contrólese y escúcheme bien. ¿Por qué se tiró usted al río? Parece un hombre sano, listo y puede que incluso resulte atractivo a las mujeres. ¿Que ha fracasado usted en todo? Mmm, no creo, ¿en todo? ¡Qué gracia! Eso decía sobre mi aquel que limpiaba este baño, es decir, mi consulta, ya sabe… ¿Se ha casado usted? ¿Ha tenido hijos? Ya veo, ya… Yo lo intenté, las dos cosas: enamorarme y tener hijos, pero como no lo conseguí me casé con una mujer a la que hice reír un par de veces. Por suerte a ella le pasaba lo mismo, así que no se lo pensó mucho. Luego, intenté hablar el tema de los hijos pero hay cosas que no se consiguen con engaños, y sin amor… Ella fue la que me animó a esto de la psicología. Tú entretienes mucho, decía. Siempre he tenido vocación como le digo, así que monté una consulta. En nuestra casa. Ahora estoy aquí, así que no le hace falta a usted que le cuente lo que pasó después. Quizá yo también debería tirarme al río con un ladrillo bien grande atado al pie. Pero fíjese usted que me da miedo. Un cobarde es lo que soy, o un valiente según se mire. ¡Pero un fracasado…! Eso si, sin duda. Parece que empieza usted a tranquilizarse… no hombre no, no se vaya… quizás le gustaría a usted limpiarme el baño, la consulta quiero decir…

Derek Krzywicki, Jordan del Rosario, Travelin’ Mat and Robert Kingsly are Cheers Elephant, a pop-rock band comming from Philadelphia, PA. It was nominated as the best Indie act in the tri state area of 2011 by Tri State Indie, and that it´s only the beggining.
I found them in a dark bar of New Orleans, LA, playing their music with just a bunch of random people as public. What a surprise when they finished their concert, got off the stage and started talking with us naturally.
Their music joined us in our trip around Florida. It is true what people said about their albums…

Betsy Mateu
She is a teacher in the School of Communication in the University of Miami. Currently she is teaching «Writing for electronic media» class in a very practical way. She used to be an agent, therefore she knows what you need to know in order to be part of the Hollywood business. With her it is not about grades and papers, it is about learn. Some of the students define her as a «Goldmine of knowledge and advice for the real world».
